Though excited, Isabela had no idea what to expect while in Patmos. When she stepped off the Blue Star Patmos, the island warmed her with calm energy, which struck her like a never-before-visited home. Having been told that Patmos would magically charm her, she had not believed it until now. She could feel the island pulling her in as the sun behind the castle was setting.
Nikolas, whose friendly smile lit the horizon and warm manner, escorted her to Panorama, her hotel. The island’s beauty constantly enveloped her with mystique, making even the short distance between the port and the hotel appear exciting. Upon arriving at Panorama, she knew she would experience some extraordinary moments.
Feeling like at home was the most powerful emotion Isabela experienced as she entered Room 14. The soft, peaceful feeling peaked as she looked out the window. In the quiet of the evening, the moonlight reflected off the water, revealing Grikos Bay in all its glory. The best part, though, was knowing that she was bound to be greeted by Petra with vibrant magnificence the following day. The hotel, with its incredible comfort, undisturbed stillness, and inviting atmosphere, was the perfect haven.
The following day, she got up and felt the soft, calm daylight upon her face. She felt incredibly at ease as she relaxed on the cushy bed while listening to the soft waves crashing outside. The overnight premium quality linens embraced her beautifully. Breakfast was a collage of simple and delicious Mediterranean and local flavors that brought her closer to the island. She felt she was meant to be at the place all along.
Maria, who had replaced Nikolas at the reception, managed the check-in and later set dinner for Isabella and her friends at Benetos, the island’s most famous Mediterranean cuisine restaurant. She also was up for a day of gentle sightseeing, which included coffee at Arionas, a walk through the local stores, and swimming at Petra. The swim was everything she hoped for: crystal clear turquoise water where the splendid view of Petra made it feel like a dream. The divine silence, only broken by the gentle crashing of waves, gave her a sense of calmness.
Panorama felt like a retreat, a place to gather, rest, and recharge. The spaces were light-designed yet stunning, and the setting was always friendly.
In the corners of the hotel Isabela was staying in, there were some books from which to choose. Inviting bookshelves were perfect for readers, while comfortable sofas attracted those who wanted to relax. The space was also very social, allowing guests to share stories with other visitors and become part of the community the hotel fostered. The touch of home blended effortlessly into the feeling of the hotel, allowing one to relax in a space dedicated to comfort.
At Panorama, Isabella felt right at home. During her stay, she was lucky enough to swim in the Kampos waters and stroll through the beautiful streets of Skala. It felt as if every experience, inside and outside the hotel, had been tailored to her preferences. The intense atmosphere of calm that enveloped the hotel, coupled with the serene and simplistic beauty of Patmos Island, made sure this summer vacation was one to remember.
All the energy she found on the peaceful island felt unique compared to her everyday life. It was not just a vacation but a memory she would carry with her; the island would always be that warm and inviting place she could go to when she needed a “home.” At this moment, she realized that she was not a visitor but, all this time, a real Patmian.
As the days go by Isabella has so many things to do: drinks at the islands most famous bar Astivi, having dinner or lunch to Kyma, taste the local cuisine at Ktima Petra, enjoy the simplicity of Stamatis cuisine, enjoy a coffee at Houston and so many other places, restaurants and beaches that this unique island has to offer.
And what about a daily trip to the famous Mylos restaurant in the slightly farther Leros?Izabbela asked.. “We can make that happen!” the manager at Panorama tells her. I will book this for you for tomorrow your last day here!” Isabella has already made up her mind to return! Next year I once again a rendezvous in Patmos! At Panorama in room 14!
